Julius earned his B.A. in Education in 1978 from Taylor University in Upland, Indiana. He began working at Christian Heritage School in 1979. During his 32 years at CHS, he taught a variety of elementary, middle, and secondary levels. In 1985 he received a MA in Counseling from Fairfield University and at that time assumed counseling responsibilities and functioned as the school's Director of Guidance.
After leaving Christian Heritage in 2009 he began working for Safe Harbor, a Christian Counseling organization. Around that time he also began his own counseling center, Non-Judgmental Christian Counseling. In addition to his own private practice, he is working for the Salvation Army as a rehabilitation counselor and now specializes in all types of addictive behaviors. He has earned certifications in sexual addictions as well as personality disorders.
Throughout his career he has had extensive experience working with families and married couples facing personal crisis. He enjoys pre-marital counseling. His calling and passion is to continue working with youth and adults facing emotional, social and/or spiritual issues. He is gifted in establishing immediate rapport, thus making all clients feel comfortable as they begin the counseling process.
Julius' counseling philosophy is rooted in the "client centered" approach. He is quoted as saying, "Before I engage any client in therapy, I emphasize the importance of honesty, acceptance, respect, confidentiality, and caring throughout the counseling sessions. Success occurs as God's Spirit utilizes my ability to help the counselee analyze, own and evaluate areas of concern. False perceptions are continually addressed, and as rapport is established, loving accountability and trust become essential for growth."
Julius is a member of the Connecticut Counseling Association and has taught adult and teen Sunday school classes at Calvary Evangelical Free Church. He and his wife Jo-Ann have been married for over 30 years. He has been blessed with four adult children and two grand children, the most recent arriving on April 14th 2010.
