LUCIA ANTONIA ANTOINE, M.S.W.

Clinical Therapist

Safe Harbor Christian Counseling of Connecticut Staff

Lucia, along with her husband and three children, moved to America in 1984 from the Caribbean island of Dominica. She stayed home with the children, while her husband worked to support the family. During that time, Lucia volunteered for various projects, most of which reflected her children’s education and extracurricular activities. It was through these volunteering opportunities that she realized that she had the gift of empathy and a desire to help others achieve a sense of well-being. Acting on that desire, she attended the Western Connecticut State University, where she graduated with a B.A in Social Work. A year later, through the Advance Standing Program at the University Of Connecticut School Of Social work, she graduated with her Master’s Degree having an emphasis on Casework. She is now in the process of obtaining her clinical license.

At 16 years old, Lucia accepted Christ as Lord of her life. She depends on the Holy Spirit and God’s Word as her source of guidance and growth. It is through such guidance that she received God’s call to use her degree as a tool, for the purpose of bringing Him glory and helping others. Armed with this commission, Lucia was led to Safe Harbor Christian Counseling.

Lucia believes in meeting the client “where the client is”. She employs an empathy based relational form of therapy called Self Psychology. She also believes that Jesus, who became a curse for us and took away the curse of our failures and insufficiencies, (Gal 3:13), is also “The Empathizing Jesus” - a concept that she is happy to use as a therapeutic tool with clients who desire spiritual guidance.

Lucia attends the Walnut Hill Community Church in Bethel CT., where she is a member and taught Sunday school for many years.
