Practicing Since: 2016 Speaks English and Spanish Maria's desire is to create a safe space where her clients can feel comfortable and secure. She provides a non-judgmental style and specializes in motivational interviewing, CBT, basic EMDR, and the psychodynamic approach. Her focus depends on the clients' needs, however, Maria believes that our past experiences influence our present and future experiences.
Although there is a lot of stigma associated with mental health, Maria believes that her purpose is to ensure that all clients feel comfortable in knowing that it is ok to ask for help. We all go through things in our lives but with the guidance of Jesus Christ and a little help from the Clinician, she believes that all clients can get through difficult times.
Maria earned her Bachelor's degree in Psychology with an applied behavior analysis concentration from Purdue University. She then earned a masters degree in Social Work from Fordham University with a clinical concentration. She graduated at the top of her class summa cum laude during her undergrad and magna cum laude during her graduate years.
Maria has been married to the love of my life since 2008 and together they have two amazing children. When she's not providing clinical services to her clients, she is teaching mindfulness courses, spending time with family and friends and doing arts and crafts .
Maria is licensed in the state of Connecticut (6509) and is under the supervision of Rob Hutter, LPC (1718).
